We’ve had a great first year of production as a team. Editor Nathan Stone put this reel together for a look back at 2012 for Blue Rain Pictures. We shot four films, all different genres. We entered festivals, won some awards, traveled to different states, made new connections with new artists, utilized new and exciting gear, and had a blast together. We’re looking forward to more production in 2013, as we wrap our latest film, ‘Spare Room.’
We’ve completed Day 1 of ‘Spare Room’ in Monroe, WA. Our location is beautiful! Today we did some simple opening scenes with our main character, Hunter. Below are some photos from just outside the location. We’ll be posting more as we go. 3 more days left, and each day will get longer as we have so many more setups to shoot.
We’re pleased to share that our latest action short ‘Providence’ took the prizes for Best Overall, Best Cinematographer, and Best Acting! Director Jan Hemstad, DP Julia Swain, and actor Kevin Kast were present to accept the awards for Blue Rain Pictures. ‘Providence’ will be posted for viewing by the public soon on our Vimeo page — we’ll be sure to announce it! Thanks to everyone who supported us and helped out on ‘Providence’ in the desert. The shoot was very intense, and the result was completely worth it.
Our new short film ‘Stained’ has been entered into the 48 Hour Film Festival in San Diego! After staying up all night, we crafted an engaging and very intriguing story for the screen. With our genre in mind, we collaborated creatively to come up with something visually AWESOME. Don’t want to spoil the film for those of you that will screen it with us at the end of June (hopefully we get to screen at the festival!) but we’d like to share with you what the requirements were! We feel we came up with a very clever way to incorporate all of these elements —
Genre: Silent Film
Character: Greta Greenberg, TV Host
Line: “Where are we going?”
Prop: Cell Phone
We created something very visual and dramatic! Stay tuned for updates on ‘Stained.’
We have 3 days left to fund our newest short film ‘Spare Room.’ We’re shooting up in Washington in less than two weeks and are so thankful to all our supporters, whether they donated or not. Incredibly excited to start production. To find out more about this movie check out our Kickstarter campaign.
